Xun is wind doubled — one of the eight pure hexagrams: 'winds following one upon the other.' The commentary says the wise person 'spreads their commands abroad and carries out their undertakings' — important intentions must be blown across minds again and again, like wind, until they sink in. The oracle promises 'small success; it furthers one to have somewhere to go, and to see the great man.' Structurally, one yielding line lies beneath two strong ones: humbly positioned below — and precisely thereby able to penetrate what is firm.
